Diversity in STEM
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we highlight a few of the Hispanic and Latinx scientists and engineers who made (and are making) essential contributions to science, engineering, math, and technology (STEM). The list below is only a sampling of kept in mind researchers through history and operating in STEM fields today.
To assist students see themselves with a future in STEM and to widen understanding of science history, it is essential for students to find out about a diverse variety of researchers and engineers. This includes commemorating the stories of females in science, African American researchers and engineers, Asian American Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander scientists, scientists with specials needs, and other researchers from all over the world.

3. Franklin Chang-Díaz, astronaut

Franklin Chang-Díaz is a mechanical engineer and astronaut. As the very first Hispanic NASA astronaut, he was associated with 7 area shuttle objectives, including Columbia and Endeavor.

4. France Córdova, astrophysicist.
France Córdova was the 14th director of the National Science Foundation. As an astrophysicist, Córdova carried out multi-spectral research study on x-ray and gamma ray sources and instruments utilized in space. She also functioned as NASAs chief scientist and, later on, president of Purdue University.
