Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) is the scientific research study heart of the Columbia Climate school. For more than 50 years, weve been hosting the yearly LDEO Open House as a way to show neighbors, members of the Columbia neighborhood, and basic audiences how our world works and the research study we do at LDEO.
Researchers at LDEO study the planet from its deepest interior to the external reaches of its environment, on every continent and in every ocean, providing a logical basis for the tough options facing humanity. The observatory is made up of over 500 scientists, trainees, and personnel who study whatever from environment change to earthquakes, volcanos, nonrenewable resources, ecological risks, and more.
In the 2021 packet, we featured 9 of our scientists in the form of collectible baseball-like cards. Each of the cards provides initial details about the scientists, shares a brief peek of their clinical knowledge and the tools they require to do their work, and offers us a couple of personal enjoyable facts.
In addition to the cards, the package includes a DIY wild card so that recipients can draw in themselves as future scientists, plus a paper craft model and activities to uncover even more about our highlighted scientists with regard to their fieldwork. The LDEO To Go packages are readily available by mail, and you can RSVP on this Eventbrite page to receive one. Please make sure you supply your shipping address at checkout.
By downloading the file, youll be able to learn about nine of our researchers and their incredible work. Below is a preview of just a few of our featured researchers.
