The James Webb Space Telescope is named for James Webb, who was NASAs second administrator, in workplace from 1961 until 1968. He is most typically associated with the Apollo program that sent out humans to the moon for the very first time simply after his tenure ended, Webb also supported the science program at NASA, according to the agency.The observatory project, originally called the Next Generation Space Telescope, was called for Webb in 2002. The firm primarily refers to the observatory as Webb, numerous astronomers have kept the acronym, even using alternative telescope titles that result in the same acronym without referencing Webb.
