U.S. Cargo Mission Nears Launch, Space Station Crew Unloads Russian Freighter

Russias Progress 80 resupply ship docked to the Poisk module at 2:03 a.m. on Thursday, delivering almost three-and-a-half lots of food, fuel, and supplies, to the seven orbital locals. Station commander Anton Shkaplerov and Flight Engineer Pyotr Dubrov opened the hatch a couple of hours later and started unloading the cargo that had actually launched from Kazakhstan just over two days earlier.
In spite of the hectic cargo schedule today, biomedical science was in full-swing on the station today. Barron signed up with NASA astronauts Thomas Marshburn and Mark Vande Hei investigating how weightlessness affects visual function. Chari partnered with ESA (European Space Agency) Flight Engineer Matthias Maurer and inspected his eyes utilizing medical imaging gear.

A U.S. rocket bring Northrop Grummans Cygnus area truck is counting down to launch towards the International Space Station on Saturday. Russias Progress 80 freight craft finished a two-day area shipment objective to the Expedition 66 crew early Thursday.
An Antares rocket stands at the Wallops Flight Facility launch pad in Virginia prepared to enhance the Cygnus freight craft to orbit on Saturday. It will take off at 12:40 p.m. EST positioning Cygnus, carrying more than 8,300 pounds of station equipment and science experiments, into space about 9 minutes later on. As soon as on orbit, Cygnus will release its cymbal-shaped UltraFlex solar ranges which will power the vehicle throughout its journey to the orbiting laboratory.
NASA Flight Engineers Raja Chari and Kayla Barron will be on duty early Monday keeping track of Cygnus automatic technique and rendezvous. When Cygnus reaches a point about 10 meters from the station, Chari will command the Canadarm2 robotic arm to reach out and record the car at 4:35 a.m. Ground controllers will then take control of the Canadarm2 and from another location set up the U.S. freight craft to the Unity module a number of hours later on.
