NASA Mission Management Team “Go” To Proceed With Artemis I Wet Dress Rehearsal

NASA is streaming live video of the rocket and spacecraft at the launch pad on the Kennedy Newsroom YouTube channel. Venting may show up during tanking operations. NASA is likewise sharing live updates on the Exploration Ground Systems Twitter account..

Ahead of NASAs Artemis I flight test, the wet gown wedding rehearsal will run the Artemis I launch team through operations to pack propellant, carry out a full launch countdown, show the ability to recycle the countdown clock, and drain the tanks to practice timelines and procedures for launch. At roughly 7:40 a.m. EDT, the objective management team chair offered the “go” to continue with tanking the rocket for the Artemis I wet dress practice session test. Later on in the countdown the Launch Director will provide the “go” to begin the tanking procedure. Meteorologists with Space Launch Delta 45 said there were no weather condition constraints for the test.
Groups are continuing to hold the clock to deal with an interruption with the supplier of gaseous nitrogen required for tanking preparations. Nitrogen is used to get ready for, and during tanking operations, to supply a non-flammable environment within the SLS. When the problem is dealt with, the countdown clock will choose back up with T-6 hours, 40 minutes on the clock (L-7 hours, 20 minutes) remaining in the countdown, starting with cooling down the liquid oxygen lines for the core phase..
When propellant filling operations start, liquid oxygen (LOX) and liquid hydrogen (LH2) will flow into the rockets core phase and interim cryogenic propulsion phase tanks and be topped off and replenished as a few of cryogenic propellant boils off. The group will also conduct leak checks to ensure propellant loading is continuing as expected.
