Artemis I will be the first in a series of progressively complex missions that will enable human exploration to the Moon and Mars.
NASAs Artemis I arrives back at Kennedy Space Centers Vehicle Assembly Building.
At around 2:30 p.m. ET on July 2, NASAs Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft for the Artemis I mission were securely protected inside the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at Kennedy Space Center after a four-mile trek from launch pad 39B that started at 4:12 a.m. ET Saturday, July 2.
Over the next numerous days, the group will extend work platforms to allow access to SLS and Orion. In the coming weeks, groups will change a seal on the quick detach of the tail service mast umbilical and carry out extra checkouts and activities prior to going back to the pad for launch.
NASA examined the information from the wet gown practice session conducted on June 20 and figured out the screening campaign was total. Now that the rocket and spacecraft have been rolled back to the VAB, preparations can proceed for the upcoming launch.
