Lawyer Turned Stem Cell Advocate Susan Solomon Dies at 71

Susan Solomon, cofounder of the New York Stem Cell Foundation, died on September 8 at age 71 after a years-long journey with ovarian cancer. Sustained by her mothers death from breast cancer and desiring a better way to treat her boys diabetes, she pictured an organization that would provide researchers with lab area, fellowships, and other helpful resources to drive research forward and speed up patient treatments.In 2005, after a fantastic deal of fundraising by Solomon, the New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) was born.”Building NYSCF has been the privilege of a life time and I am extremely happy of the contributions we have made to the field of stem cell research study and establishing new and more reliable treatments and remedies to enhancing the lives of clients,” Solomon informed NYSCF staff as she resigned after 17 years as CEO simply days before her death, according to a press release.She is endured by her hubby, three children, three daughters-in-law, and 6 grandchildren.
