On Wednesday, September 28, Artemyev will turn over station management responsibilities to ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti. She will become the first European female ISS commander. The traditional Change of Command event begins at 9:35 a.m. EDT live on NASA TELEVISION, the agencys app, and its site.
Cristoforetti will lead the new Expedition 68 team until she and 3 of her SpaceX Crew Dragon Freedom crewmates depart the spaceport station in October to return to Earth. She signed up with NASA astronauts Kjell Lindgren, Bob Hines, and Jessica Watkins today and evaluated their Dragon descent treatments with flight controllers in the world. The Crew-4 quartet has actually been onboard the station since their arrival inside Freedom on April 27.

Onboard the International Space Station (ISS), the Expedition 67 team is in the midst of a team swap as three new flight engineers are adjusting to life in area and another crew prepares to return to Earth today. With 10 people currently living aboard the ISS, there were plenty of opportunities to keep up continuous microgravity research and lab upkeep.
New Flight Engineer Frank Rubio from NASA was back to work on area physics on Tuesday setting up hardware for the Intelligent Glass Optics research study inside the Microgravity Science Glovebox. The research examines using synthetic intelligence to adapt materials making, such as fiber optics, to the vacuum of space.
