This Week @NASA: Results of DART Planetary Defense Test & Stunning New Webb Image

And more brand-new images from the Webb Space Telescope … a few of the stories to inform you about– This Week at NASA!

The two stars in Wolf-Rayet 140 produce shells of dust every 8 years that look like rings, as seen in this image from NASAs James Webb Space Telescope. Each ring was developed when the stars came close together and their excellent winds collided, compressing the gas and forming dust. Credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI, JPL-Caltech

Data Confirms DART Impact Changed Asteroids Motion
Information from the deliberate effect of NASAs DART spacecraft with asteroid Dimorphos verify that …
” DART effectively altered the targeted asteroids trajectory.”– Bill Nelson, NASA Administrator
This first-ever planetary defense test modified Dimorphos orbit around a larger asteroid by 32 minutes, which far exceeded expectations.

NASAs SpaceX Crew-4 Mission Returns Safely to Earth
NASAs SpaceX Crew-4 objective securely returned from the International Space Station after almost 6 months of conducting research study and technology presentations to prepare for human exploration beyond low-Earth orbit and to benefit life on Earth.

Webb Sees Star Duos “Fingerprint”.
A brand-new Webb Space Telescope image reveals a series of dust rings from a set of stars. The stars orbits bring them together about when every eight years. Like the rings of a tree trunk, the dust loops mark the passage of time.

New Target Date for Next Artemis I Launch Attempt.
The next launch effort of NASAs Artemis I Moon mission is now targeted for November 14. The uncrewed flight test of our Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft will thoroughly evaluate all systems before making Artemis flights with astronauts.
