Fire Alarm: International Space Station Resupply Mission Launch Scrubbed

The 18th Northrop Grumman industrial resupply services objective for NASA to the International Space Station (ISS) carries clinical investigations of subjects such as plant mutations and mudflow structure in addition to a presentation of electronic camera technology and small satellites from Japan, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. The Cygnus spacecraft carrying these investigations to the orbiting laboratory is now scheduled for liftoff on November 7 from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport at NASAs Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia.

Todays launch attempt of Northrop Grummans Antares rocket and Cygnus freight spacecraft from NASAs Wallops Flight Facility on Virginias Eastern Shore has been held off. The launch was scrubbed due to a fire alarm at Northrop Grummans Cygnus spacecraft nerve center in Dulles, Virginia. “Scrubbing” is NASAs term for when the team handling the rocket launch calls off the tried launch on a particular day.
The Cygnus spacecraft and Antares rocket remain healthy at the Wallops launch website.

Northrop Grummans 18th contracted freight resupply objective with NASA to the International Space Station will deliver more than 8,000 pounds of science and research study, team materials, and car hardware to the orbital lab and its crew.
The next launch attempt will be on Monday, November 7, in a five-minute window that opens at 5:27 a.m. EST (2:27 a.m. PST). Weather condition for that window is presently forecast as 70% beneficial: High pressure wants to continue to provide peaceful weather condition to the Mid-Atlantic prior to breezy conditions affect the Wallops area Tuesday. Live protection will begin on NASA TV and nasa.gov/ live at 5 a.m. EST (2 a.m. PST).

Filled with more than 8,200 pounds of research, crew materials, and hardware, Northrop Grummans Cygnus freight spacecraft will introduce on the companys Antares rocket from Virginia Spaces Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceports Pad 0A on Wallops Island. This Cygnus spacecraft is named S.S. Sally Ride, in honor of the first American woman in area.
