NASA Astronauts Complete Spacewalk to Prep for Space Station Solar Array Upgrades

This staying work will be completed throughout a future spacewalk prior to the arrival of the solar varieties for the 1B power channel. No changes are planned for the next 2 upcoming U.S. spacewalks.
It was the 254th spacewalk in assistance of spaceport station assembly, upgrades, and maintenance, and was the very first spacewalk for both astronauts. Cassada and Rubio remain in the midst of a prepared six-month science mission living and working aboard the microgravity lab. Their goal is to advance clinical understanding and demonstrate new innovations for future human and robotic exploration missions, including lunar missions through NASAs Artemis program.
The next two U.S. spacewalks are set up on Tuesday, November 29, and Saturday, December 3. On November 29, 2 astronauts will set up an iROSA for the 3A power channel. On December 3, a set of astronauts will set up an iROSA on the port truss for the 4A power channel. These will be the 4th and 3rd iROSAs out of a total of 6 prepared for installation. The iROSAs will increase power generation ability by as much as 30%, increasing the stations overall available power from 160 kilowatts to as much as 215 kilowatts.

NASA astronauts Josh Cassada and Frank Rubio of NASA concluded their spacewalk at 4:25 p.m. EST (1:25 p.m. PST), the other day, November 15, after 7 hours and 11 minutes in preparation for the upcoming solar range installation.
Exploration 68 Flight Engineers Cassada and Rubio finished the majority of the primary objectives for the spacewalk, that included assembling a mounting bracket on the starboard side of the stations truss assembly in preparation for the setup of a set of International Space Station Rollout Solar Arrays (iROSAs).
The set completed the routing of cables on the 3A power channel, and started the setup procedure of a modification package on the 1B power channel, which will serve as a scaffolding for the new solar selections. Some planned jobs associated with the completion of the modification kit, including the installation of collars, and the routing of cables for the 1B power channel, were postponed by the crew.

It was the 254th spacewalk in support of space station assembly, upgrades, and maintenance, and was the first spacewalk for both astronauts. Their goal is to advance clinical knowledge and show brand-new technologies for future human and robotic expedition objectives, consisting of lunar objectives through NASAs Artemis program.
The next 2 U.S. spacewalks are arranged on Tuesday, November 29, and Saturday, December 3.
