Will This be the Iconic Picture From Artemis I?

The image, seen in the banner, was taken by the Orion spacecraft right after it completed its last burn past the Moon on December 5th, the 20th day of the first Artemis mission. Throughout that burn, the pill passed within 130 km of the Moons surface, enabling its cam to record a sensational picture of the desolate curvature of the Moon itself.
What may be more amazing is the crescent in the background. As Carl Sagan said– “thats here, thats us, thats home.” Thats the Earth in a crescent that makes it almost appear like a common crescent Moon. Its difficult to inform that little crescent is the cradle of our humanity, as it does not appear like much, even from not too far away.

The fact that they have specific names (Earth Rise, The Blue Marble, etc) shows their importance to our collective understanding of our world and our place in the Universe. Now, we may have a new one, as weve received a spectacular view of our Moon and a crescent Earth from the Artemis 1 mission.

Listed in an ESA press release as “Rising Earth,” this new image may become the most renowned image from an objective that has had numerous of them. There was lots of internet buzz around the videos of Orion flying past the Moon, and some still images from around the exact same time are really incredible. Its anyones guess which, if any, of those images will be kept in mind as the most crucial, however Rising Earth certainly has a shot at it.

Thats the Earth in a crescent that makes it practically look like a normal crescent Moon. Rising Earth might be the first, but it certainly wont be the last renowned image of the Artemis program.
