New Research Reveals How E-Cigarettes Affect the Lungs

E-cigarettes can cause modifications in the lungs at the cellular and molecular level, including modifications in the pulmonary immune cell structure and modified gene and protein levels in the lungs, according to the findings of brand-new research on mice.
New research study released in The FASEB Journal shows that e-cigarettes can cause molecular and cellular changes in the lungs. Particularly, prolonged inhalation of e-cigarette aerosols by mice caused modifications in the animals lung immune cell composition and transformed gene and protein levels in the lungs.
Detectives discovered that even low exposure to aerosols from JUUL– a brand name of e-cigarettes popular with youth and young people– had considerable effects.
” The health repercussions of vaping are not understood. Our outcomes reveal that inhalation of the vapor created by a popular brand name of e-cigarette causes extensive modifications inside the lungs, information that even more highlight that these products are not inert and might cause lung damage if utilized long term,” said corresponding author Carolyn J. Baglole, PhD, of McGill University, in Montreal, Quebec.
