NASAs Perseverance rover, revealed in this artistic making, landed at Mars Jezero Crater in February 2021 and began collecting soil samples right after that. Perseverance is not looking directly for organisms living on Mars today, the rover is gathering information that could be utilized to identify biosignatures of ancient microbial life. Is there life on Mars?
As soon as a substantial ocean on Mars and an environment that could have supported life, theres lots of pieces of proof that say there was.
But theres still a lot of Mars delegated explore.
There are places that are potentially habitable, like the deep subsurface. There are locations underground that could have fluids in them or organisms might live, and they d be secured from the radiation thats so hazardous on the surface.
Were recently getting instruments onto the Martian surface area that can assist us comprehend these potentially habitable locations and we can ask much deeper concerns about the capacity for habitability in those rock cores.
So exists life on Mars? Not that weve discovered yet, but theres still a lot of Mars left to check out.
