The installation is part of a series of spacewalks to augment the International Space Stations power channels with brand-new International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Arrays (iROSAs). Four iROSAs have actually been installed so far, and two more will be installed to the platforms set up throughout this spacewalk in the future.
It was the 261st spacewalk in assistance of area station assembly, upgrades, and upkeep, the eighth spacewalk for Bowen, and the first for any UAE astronaut.
Bowen and Alneyadi are in the middle of a prepared six-month science objective living and working aboard the microgravity laboratory to advance clinical knowledge and show brand-new innovations for future human and robotic exploration missions, including lunar missions through NASAs Artemis program.

NASAs Steve Bowen and UAEs Sultan Alneyadi effectively completed a 7-hour spacewalk to prepare for the installation of brand-new solar ranges on the ISS. In spite of a delayed operation to free a degraded interactions antenna, the objective marked the 261st spacewalk for the ISS and a first for a UAE astronaut. Bowen and Alneyadi laid cables and installed insulation on mounting brackets on the starboard truss of the station for the installation of the next pair of International Space Station Roll Out Solar Arrays (iROSAs).

NASAs Steve Bowen and UAEs Sultan Alneyadi effectively completed a 7-hour spacewalk to get ready for the setup of brand-new solar ranges on the ISS. Regardless of a postponed operation to release an abject interactions antenna, the mission marked the 261st spacewalk for the ISS and a very first for a UAE astronaut. The astronauts are halfway through a six-month mission to advance space expedition innovations.
NASA astronaut Steve Bowen and UAE (United Arab Emirates) astronaut Sultan Alneyadi concluded their spacewalk at 4:12 p.m. EDT on April 28 after 7 hours and 1 minute. The spacewalk to get ready for future installation of updated solar ranges on the starboard side of the stations truss started at 9:11 a.m. EDT.
Bowen and Alneyadi laid cable televisions and installed insulation on mounting brackets on the starboard truss of the station for the installation of the next set of International Space Station Roll Out Solar Arrays (iROSAs). The astronauts were not able to maximize an electronics box located on the truss connected with an abject S-band communications antenna. The antenna elimination was accepted a future spacewalk ahead of its organized return to Earth.
