Dragon’s Arrival Spurs Robotics and Science Frenzy Aboard ISS

Cosmonauts Research and Maintenance

The Expedition 70 crew and robotics controllers on the ground were hectic dumping a U.S. cargo craft on Tuesday, November 14. The International Space Station (ISS) citizens are also triggering new science experiments to reveal how microgravity affects human beings.
Unloading and Research Activities
The astronauts and groups on the ground are working together today unloading a few of the almost 6,500 pounds of science, products, and hardware delivered inside the SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft on Saturday. Leader Andreas Mogensen worked inside the business resupply ship on Tuesday disassembling a few of the packed crew bags strapped inside Dragon. Robotics and Hardware Installation
Mission controllers from the U.S. and Japan coordinated their robotics activities to obtain and set up a few of the heavier science hardware delivered inside Dragons unpressurized trunk. The U.S. engineers remotely controlled the Canadarm2 robotic arm to extract the new ILLUMA-T laser interactions experiment stowed in Dragon. The JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) robotics controllers were waiting as the Canadarm2 handed off ILLUMA-T to the Japanese robotic arm for setup on the Kibo lab module.
