Look up to spot the tricky planet Mercury at its ‘greatest elongation’ from the sun tonight

Mercury is an especially difficult target for naked-eye observers given that its the closest planet to the sun. It invests much of its noticeable time nearly hugging the sun in our sky, making the world hard to identify in golden.
