ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti will go back to the International Space Station in April 2022. Her 2nd area mission is known as Minerva.
Influenced by Roman mythology, Samantha says the Minerva objective name and spot pay tribute to the competence and advanced craftmanship of all those who make human spaceflight possible.
Samantha will take a trip to the Station along with NASA astronauts Kjell Lindgren, Bob “Farmer” Hines, and Jessica Watkins. Collectively called Crew-4, the astronauts will be launched from NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, on a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft.
Her Minerva objective officially begins when Samantha arrives at the Station. This will see her live and work aboard the orbital outpost for roughly 5 months. During this time, she will support over 35 European and many more worldwide experiments in orbit.
