Introduced on November 16, 2022, from Launch Complex 39B at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Artemis I is the first in a series of significantly complex objectives that will enable human expedition to the Moon and Mars.

Orion is the only spacecraft efficient in bring human beings from Earth on Artemis missions to deep area and bringing them back to Earth from the vicinity of the Moon. More than just a crew module, Orion has a launch abort system to keep astronauts safe if an emergency situation takes place during launch, and a European-built service module that is the powerhouse that fuels and propels Orion and keeps astronauts alive with water, power, oxygen, and temperature level control, along with a heat guard that can manage high-speed returns from deep area. SLS is the most effective rocket on the planet and the only rocket efficient in introducing Orion with astronauts and their products on Artemis objectives to the Moon.

Artemis I is an uncrewed flight test of NASAs SLS rocket, Orion spacecraft, and expedition ground systems for future Artemis objectives– which will offer the foundation to send out people to the lunar surface area, establish a long-term presence on and around the Moon, and lead the way for mankind to set foot on Mars.
