The worlds biggest scientific society– the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS)– has elected five Columbia professors to its 2021 class of AAAS Fellows.
Amongst them is Nicholas Christie-Blick, a professor of earth and ecological sciences and research study scientist at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, who is being acknowledged for his research study in sedimentary geology, tectonics, and sea level modification, and for his undergraduate teaching. On the field trips he leads yearly to Death Valley, Christie-Blick asks trainees to actively explore the locations they visit, even sketching the structures they observe.
The other new AAAS Fellows from Columbia consist of: neuroscientist Gary W. Miller, chemist Gerard Parkin, evolutionary biologist Dustin Rubenstein, and geneticist Michael M. Shen.
The Columbia researchers are amongst 564 researchers, innovators, and engineers to get the honor for 2021. ” AAAS is happy to bestow the honor of AAAS Fellow to a few of todays brightest minds who are important to forging our path into the future,” stated Sudip Parikh, the societys president. “We commemorate these identified people for their invaluable contributions to the clinical business.”
