The uncrewed NASA Artemis I objective will jump-start humanitys return to the Moon with the thunderous liftoff of NASAs powerful new Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft. Artemis I is prepared for departure– and, together with partners around the world, NASA is all set to return to the Moon, with their sights on Mars and beyond.

Video Transcript:

Artemis stands prepared. Ready to turn dreams into reality. Ready to return humankind to the Moon and take us even more than ever in the past.
The culmination of motivation and innovation of herculean efforts and steadfast partnership. Artemis 1 is ready for departure.
And the Artemis generation will leave its mark.
What will be a journey of more than a half a million miles to the Moon and back begins right here at Launch Complex 39 Bravo.
This very first flight will not bring a crew, it will test every system in the deep depths of space to prepare the method for future crewed missions.
When the final go is provided and the teams at Kennedy Space Center release this rocket, Artemis will holler to life and we will witness the beginning of a firmly choreographed objective.
The very first two and a half minutes raise Artemis off Earth and build momentum. Its another 6 minutes of pushing uphill accelerating to orbit. This is followed by push from the 2nd phase to raise Orion greater
And when all the systems are cleared to continue, the 2nd phase will fire once again and push Orion beyond the bounds of Earth.
At this point, were going to the Moon. Itll take numerous days to reach our location. As we sprint across the void, numerous new treatments and systems will be tested and proven.
240 thousand miles later Orion will get in an oval-shaped orbit around the Moon. One that will take Orion to about 60 miles above the lunar surface and then out to 40,000 miles beyond the Moon.
This is a range further than any human-rated spacecraft has actually ever gone in the past.
As momentous as reaching the Moon will be, going back to Earth is simply as tough and substantial.
Every observation we make, every lesson we find out on this journey, prepares the method for humans to securely venture out and return home. And so on its last lap around the Moon Orion will spark its main engine push out of lunar orbit and start the long trek house.
This is a spacecraft developed for the extreme conditions of deep area as well as the strength of returning home.
Nearing Earth Orion separates from the main power and propulsion systems of the European Service Module and prepares for the last series of occasions.
Going into Earths atmosphere at 24,500 miles per hour the heat guard endures the fury of re-entry. The air around Orion reaches temperatures half as hot as the sun, but also slows Orion considerably.Until lastly parachutes can deploy enabling Orion to carefully dip into the Pacific Ocean.
To the Moon and securely home again. This is the journey of Artemis I and it will set the precedent for all that follows.
United with partners all over the world, this is the obstacle we select. To fulfill hand in hand, action by action, lighting the method from the Earth to the Moon to Mars and beyond.
We are prepared.
