A decade after the program ended, she did the very same for NASA, appearing in a marketing movie intended at hiring ladies and individuals of color to apply to be astronauts, as she recounted in a 2012 visit to NASAs Goddard Space Flight. Years later on, NASA officials enlisted her help to recruit the very first women and minority astronauts for the Space Shuttle Program. In a statement, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson kept in mind that as we prepare to send the first lady and very first individual of color to the Moon under Artemis, NASA is assisted by the tradition of Nichelle Nichols.

NASA Previews Artemis I Moon Mission
We previewed our uncrewed Artemis I objective to the Moon during a set of instructions. On August 3, firm officials at our NASA Headquarters and at other NASA centers provided a “broad view introduction” of the objective.
” Artemis I reveals that we can do huge things.– Bill Nelson, NASA Administrator
That was followed 2 days later with a deeper dive into the missions timeline and operations from our Johnson Space. The firm is currently targeting no earlier than Monday, August 29, for the launch of the Space Launch System rocket to send out the Orion spacecraft around the Moon and back to Earth. Artemis I will happen throughout about six weeks to take a look at systems prior to astronauts fly aboard the spacecraft on Artemis II.
This picture of the Cartwheel and its buddy galaxies is a composite from Webbs Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI), which exposes details that are difficult to see in the specific images alone. This galaxy formed as the outcome of a high-speed crash that happened about 400 million years earlier. The Cartwheel is made up of two rings, a bright inner ring, and a colorful external ring. Both rings expand outside from the center of the accident like shockwaves. Webb Captures New Image of the Cartwheel Galaxy
NASAs James Webb Space Telescope produced this brand-new in-depth picture of the Cartwheel Galaxy and two smaller sized galaxies. The Cartwheel Galaxy, which is located about 500 million light-years from us, is an unusual type of galaxy that astronomers call a “ring galaxy.” It is thought that the Cartwheel Galaxy used to be a typical spiral galaxy like our Milky Way prior to an accident with another galaxy affected the Cartwheel Galaxys shape and structure.

After 10 years on Mars, Curiosity Still Has Drive
NASAs Curiosity rover is celebrating 10 years on Mars. The Curiosity group now plans to have the rover invest the next couple of years exploring a brand-new region, one believed to have actually formed as water was drying out, leaving behind salted minerals called sulfates.

The Next Commercial Crew Launch to the Space Station
The launch of our SpaceX Crew-5 objective to the International Space Station is currently targeted for no earlier than September 29 from our Kennedy Space Center. NASA astronauts Nicole Mann and Josh Cassada, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Koichi Wakata, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Anna Kikina discussed their approaching objective during an Aug. 4 rundown at our Johnson Space.
” We are coming together as a human race. And our objective onboard the International Space Station of developing this technology and research study to benefit all of mankind is actually what brings us together.”– Nicole Mann, NASA Astronaut

NASA Pays Tribute to Nichelle Nichols
Years later on, NASA authorities enlisted her aid to hire the very first ladies and minority astronauts for the Space Shuttle Program. In a declaration, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson kept in mind that as we prepare to send out the very first lady and first person of color to the Moon under Artemis, NASA is assisted by the legacy of Nichelle Nichols.
Thats whats up today @NASA

And an anniversary for one of our explorers on Mars … a few of the stories to tell you about– This Week at NASA!
