On This Day in Space! Dec. 7, 1972: NASA launches Apollo 17, last crewed moon mission

The seventh and last crewed lunar landing of NASAs Apollo program, Apollo 17, bring a team of three astronauts: Mission commander Eugene A. Cernan, Lunar Module pilot Harrison H. Schmitt, and Command Module pilot Ronald E. Evans, raised off on December 7, 1972. This was the last time a Saturn V rocket would release astronauts into space, and it was the only nighttime launch of the Apollo program. Still not sufficient area?
