All eyes will be on the historic Launch Complex 39B when Orion and the Space Launch System (SLS) take off for the first time from NASAs modernized Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The mission will demonstrate our dedication and capability to extend human existence to the Moon and beyond.
Artemis I will be the first in a series of significantly complex missions to develop a long-lasting human existence at the Moon for decades to come.
Artemis I will be the very first integrated flight test of NASAs deep space exploration system: the Orion spacecraft, Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the ground systems at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The first in a series of increasingly complicated objectives, Artemis I will be an uncrewed flight that will offer a structure for human deep space expedition, and show our dedication and capability to extend human presence to the Moon and beyond.
